Grand Alumni Homecoming Fun Run participants in action.

More than 1,000 Centralians joined in the 5K Fun Run on January 31, 2020. The early morning event was organized by CPU High School Class 1977 in cooperation with the CPU Administration, CPU Alumni Association, CPU Junior High School and the Iloilo Oval Runners.

A short program hosted by CPU HS Batch 1977 was held in front of the Rose Memorial Auditorium before the Fun Run event started. Dr. Margen Java welcomed the participants and was followed with a prayer by Pastor Albert Mark A. Java (HS 2006). An Inspirational Message was delivered by Desire “Nenet” Amojedo of HS Class ’77, a forward and shooter of the High School Basketball Girls team. She imparted what she learned from CPU: values of discipline, of time wisely used, and on top of it all – the importance of faith in Jesus Christ.

The Oath of Sportsmanship was delivered by Ramsay Padernilla. Mr. Padernilla was a varsity football player during his high school years; a member of the National Football Team; and hailed as Mr. Football of the Philippines in 1980.

To condition the runners, Mr. Cicero Omero – Member, CPU High School Batch 1977 and Iloilo Oval Runners Club led a stretching activity, with Junior High School PE Teachers raising everyone’s spirit with a popular Zumba dance number. Dr. Lorena Ning “Nani” de Leon (President, CPU Elem’73, HS’77), acknowledged everyone in her closing remarks. The short program was hosted by Dr. Margen A. Java – Vice President of the CPU Elem ‘73, HS ‘77.
