In a groundbreaking initiative, the members of Centralians in Mass Media (CMM) have united to form a media organization dedicated not only to reporting news and updates about Central Philippine University (CPU) but also to actively engage in community outreach and support the university’s vision and mission.
During the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, CMM took a proactive stance by distributing food packs on September 29, 2021. This thoughtful initiative, spearheaded by one of its pioneering members, Former PNA Chief ‘Nitz Gobuyan,’ and supported by the current CMM President Rufino ‘Pinoy’ Gonzales, carried the slogan “A helping hand to fellow Centralians amidst Covid,” complementing the resilient Central Spirit.
The Food Pantry Project addressed the emotional and physical needs of Centralians, fostering communication not only with local alumni chapters but also extending its reach globally. CMM is committed to undertaking future programs and projects that contribute to the welfare of the University.
Having forged partnerships with governmental bodies and educational institutions, CMM’s members, actively engaged in various media and public affairs platforms such as local newspapers, radio, TV, and social media, strategically collaborate with CPU’s broadcast and social media programming to reach alumni and the wider public.
Under the new administration led by CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, CMM is entering a new phase in its dedication to serve and promote Central Philippine University. This shift aligns CMM with Iloilo’s mainstream media and other relevant agencies, fostering a broader impact.
City Councilor and CPUAAI President, the late Attorney Joshua C. Alim, played a vital role as one of the founding members of CMM (Special CPU Alumni Chapter). In a post on Facebook, Alim urged all Centralians in Mass Media to “continue to serve our Alma Mater for the greater Glory of the Almighty Father.” The legacy of commitment lives on as CMM propels itself towards an even more impactful role in supporting CPU’s mission and fostering a stronger sense of community among Centralians.
