Centralian Visual Artists Society, also known as CenVAS, is primarily a student-based artist association in Central Philippine University under the Cultural Affairs Office. Because of its interesting focus in art, valuable painting activities and other media exhibits are forthcoming in the last quarter of 2020. It now spreads its wings to the next level — to involve CPU graduates and alumni in the organization in the upcoming projects.
Mr. Efraim Alfaras, a painter and a staff of the University Press, is a CenVAS member who conceptualized a project that will support work students in their desire to pursue college education in CPU. Alfaras, with the support of CenVAS adviser Jen Mark Calumba, is laying its plans to also involve the CPU Alumni Association, Inc. on its worthy projects for work students.
“Our initial plan is to raise funds from the sale of the members’ works of art,” said Alfaras. He added that the proceeds will go to recipients of the CPU Work Students Program for their educational needs.
Apart from financial support, the prospective works students will also get a chance to be trained on the arts, and join CenVAS exhibits and other venues.
