“Words I’d Rather Write” and “Moments and Memories,” the latest poetry collections by CPU Professor Evy Jansien Victoria P. Casas.
Professor Evy Jansien Victoria P. Casas, a full-time faculty member at Central Philippine University’s Department of Languages, Mass Communication, and Humanities, has successfully secured copyright registration for her two poetry collections, “Words I’d Rather Write” and “Moments and Memories.”
The certificate of copyright registration was issued by the National Library of the Philippines on July 5, 2024, after Casas formally deposited copies of her works on June 25. The books, classified under Class A, were created in April and June 2020, respectively.
Professor Casas, a resident of Pavia, Iloilo, shared that the poetry collections were born out of her desire to keep busy during the COVID-19 pandemic. With more time at home, she decided to compile poems she had written over a decade into two books. Driven by personal satisfaction and a desire to learn from her previous work in copyright, she took the initiative to register her creations.
“It’s a collection of poems that I wrote for more than 10 years. During the pandemic, since we couldn’t get out of our houses, and to have something to keep myself busy, I decided to produce a book for my personal satisfaction lang gid and learning copyright from my previous job, I decided to register it. To have it protected as well as may record ang National Library. I did it out of fun with no other intention of whatsoever,” she said.
The poems in both collections explore universal themes of life, love, moving forward, and optimism. Casas emphasized that her decision to publish and register the books was purely for personal enjoyment and to create a record at the National Library, with no other intentions.
