Two Centralian professionals were inducted as new members of the Iloilo City Metro Lions Club on February 24, 2021 at Tatoy’s Manokan and Seafoods in Arevalo, Iloilo City – following existing health protocols. The two Centralians inducted were Dr. Ria Sophia Perales (CPU College of Medicine 2013 ) and Engr. Jose June Sobrevega, (CPU College of Civil Engineering 1994). They joined three other new members at the 39th Working Induction of Officers and New Members of the Iloilo City Metro Lions Club, District 301-B1, Iloilo City, Philippines, the home club of incumbent Centralian District Governor Alfonso “Boy” T. Deocampo, Jr. MJF, (CPU HS ‘1965 ).
Incumbent Member of Iloilo Metro Lions Club and Past President of Central Philippine University Alumni Association, Inc. Engr. Isagani “Boy” J. Jalbuena, MJF, was also inducted as the club Membership Committee Chair together with Key Club President, Atty. Domingo B. Oso, Jr.; Vice President Lion Napoleon Lavalle (currently Cabinet Treasurer, Dist. 301-B1); Secretary, Lion Atty. Philip Bernard H. Capadosa/Assisted by Past Pres. Lion Engr. Edwin S. Bravo; and Treasurer, Lady Lion Arlene F. Detoyato.
As a working induction, the club conducted a feeding program in the morning for the indigent children of Sitio Matawhay, Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Jaro, Iloilo City. The club also donated reading glasses and face masks to the Senior Citizens of the barangay. The members of the Iloilo City Metro Lions Club look forward to their active participation in civic and humanitarian projects as its motto is “We Serve”.
With the Centralian Members in the club, our plan to organize another Special CPU Alumni Chapter and work in support of our dear Central shall be realized,” Jalbuena said.
