Ron Xavier Caldito, the CPUR President of the 20th Parliament, exemplifies true leadership—driven by service, personal growth, and a deep commitment to positively impacting his community at Central Philippine University.

Have you ever wondered what life is like for a student leader? Have you ever paused to consider the immense weight they carry, balancing academic pressures with the responsibility of leading an entire student body? A student leader is about being the voice of your peers, advocating for their concerns, and navigating complex challenges to ensure that every student’s needs are met. It’s about listening, problem-solving, and creating opportunities for growth and connection within the community—often in ways that go unnoticed by most.

Ron Xavier Caldito, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management, is the Central Philippine University Republic (CPUR) President of the 20th Parliament. As the CPUR President, he holds one of the highest positions in the student government. His love for the Central to serve and lead began with a passion for service and a deep desire to make a positive impact on his fellow students.

“My journey as a student leader began in high school, and it has been a guiding force in shaping who I am today. From the outset, my goal was to contribute meaningfully to nation-building, and I sought a path that would challenge me both personally and academically,” Caldito shared in an online interview.

At Central, he has had the privilege of holding various leadership roles within the CPU Republic. These roles include serving as a Board Member in Junior High School, Representative in Senior High, Secretary in the Office of the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Governor of Business and Accountancy.

“I’ve always believed that personal development thrives when we step outside our comfort zones.”

When asked about his most significant accomplishment, he highlighted the personal growth he has experienced during his term as President. Leading with authenticity, guided by the principles and values of Central, has not only been an honor but also a transformative experience. These moments have shaped his leadership abilities and refined his approach to resolving problems within the community with purpose and integrity.

“Having been part of this institution for 18 years, I can confidently say that Central is more than just a university; it’s a second home that has nurtured my growth as both a student and a leader.”

Among the most memorable moments were his first win as a Board Member in Junior High School, organizing his first event as a CPUR Representative, and leading monthly events during his term as Prime Minister. “The transition from online to face-to-face learning was also a significant moment, and I found it rewarding to witness the resilience of the student body,” he added.

When asked if the CPU community has supported him in his academic and personal growth, he shared, “This institution isn’t just a place to gain knowledge; it’s a place where character is built,

leadership is honed, and faith is strengthened. The values we hold dear—respect, excellence, and faith—have deeply influenced my approach to leadership and decision-making.”

At CPU, he has learned the importance of diplomacy, professionalism, and faith-guided decisions. These are not just principles taught in theory but values that are embedded in the very culture of the university. He has learned to embrace versatility and adaptability, and most importantly, to approach challenges with resilience and optimism.

“The strong sense of community here has taught me the importance of collaboration, integrity, and service. I can confidently say that the lessons I’ve learned at CPU have equipped me to lead with both confidence and humility.”

Currently, he serves as the President of the CPU Republic and an ex-officio member of the CPU Board of Trustees. He is also actively involved in various committees, working alongside fellow student leaders to ensure the success of their initiatives.

“One of my proudest achievements was representing the CPU Republic at the International

Assembly of Youth for UNESCO in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, in November 2024. I participated in the Open Spoken Word Competition, where I was awarded the championship title. It was a moment that highlighted both personal and institutional pride. Another key milestone was co-chairing the University Day event, a significant occasion that brought the entire CPU community together to celebrate our shared values and vision.”

When asked for his advice to students considering enrolling at CPU, he encouraged them to embrace every opportunity for growth. He highlighted that while challenges may seem daunting at first, they are essential for becoming the leaders they are meant to be. He also emphasized that CPU helps students develop both academic knowledge and strong character, guided by values of respect, excellence, and faith.

“Though my time as a student here may be coming to an end, I take pride in the impact I’ve made, and I encourage you to do the same. Be a Centralian who leaves a legacy of excellence and takes full advantage of the incredible opportunities this institution offers. Welcome to the journey that will shape your future and guide you toward becoming the best version of yourself.”

The journey of CPUR President Ron Xavier Caldito, is a testament to the power of leadership, vision, and the unwavering desire to make a difference. Through his work, he has proven that true leadership is not about titles, but about the positive impact one person can have on an entire community.
