Rev. Danilo A. Borlado was installed into office as the new CPBC General Secretary last May 5, 2023.

On May 5, 2023, Rev. Danilo Azuela Borlado, CPU Bachelor of Theology Class of 1981, was installed to lead and serve the office of the General Secretary of the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches (CPBC), in a ceremony done at the CPBC Headquarters at corner Arguelles-Fajardo streets.

The installing officer was Rev. Dr. Jerson B. Narciso, also a former General Secretary of the Convention, together with the current CPBC President Jimmie U. Lacson, Dunong Christian Church, who gave the charge to the new servant leader. Witnessing the occasion and giving expressions of support were the family and friends of Rev. Borlado, the Board of Trustees of CPBC, the Kasapulanan Presidents and Auxiliary Organizations of the CPBC.

In his message during his installation, Borlado emphasized the need to revive the CPBC by tearing down the walls of division that hampered the organization for several years.””

A couple of notable statements that Dan spoke during his response as the new General Secretary were:

“Let us pray for God’s wisdom to be upon us all and for one another’s health.  Let us pray that the fire of revival will sweep our churches so we can serve God,” and “By God’s grace and with everyone’s help, we can make CPBC vibrant and great again.”

Rev. Boraldo hails from the north Iloilo town of Lemery. From a Roman Catholic background he enrolled at Central Philippine University College of Agriculture. After receiving salvation in Christ Jesus during the Christian Emphasis Week celebration, he was baptized by American Baptist Missionary and then University Church pastor Rev. Floyd Roseberry. He then entered pastoral training at the College of Theology in 1977 where he would also meet his future spouse and ministry partner, Mary Lou Y. Silencino. They have two children who are also pastors – Pastor Jec Dan, and Pastor Deo Grace.

After graduation, Dan proceeded to minister with the different churches under CPBC such as Faith Baptist Church in Quezon City, Jaro Evangelical Church, Bacolod Christian Church, Capiz Christian Church, and Baptist Center Church. Later on, he served as a New Beginnings Christian Fellowship in Hong Kong, a CPBC-member church that ministers to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), for 22 years.

Rev. Danilo A. Borlado is currently a member of the CPU Corporation. The General Secretary of the CPBC also serves an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees of CPU and other related Baptist institutions.

As Rev. Borlado starts his new ministry, he expresses that he feels a bit overwhelmed by the scope and volume of the work and the many challenges ahead. But with faith and prayer, he remains excited about what God can do in him and through him as he serves as general secretary of the CPBC.
