On July 30, 2025, the Central Philippine University Republic (CPUR) proudly launched the Centralian Compass 2025 for its second year, a revitalized campus – wide orientation program tailored for incoming freshmen and transferees.
This year’s edition marked a significant evolution of the event, reaffirming CPUR’s commitment to creating a warm, meaningful, and informative welcome experience for new Centralians. Spearheaded by CHM Representative Jude Michael L. Casite in partnership with the College of Hospitality Management “CentralianGuides” under the guidance of Prof. Denie Erwin Tan, the initiative focused not just on touring the campus, but on cultivating a deeper connection between students and the university community.
The Centralian Compass 2025 featured two key components: a general campus tour and academic college immersion. During the general tour, trained “Centralian Guides” from the College of Hospitality Management, alongside CPUR 21st Parliament and LGU officials, led participants through various landmarks and essential facilities across the university. More than simply pointing out buildings, the guides offered insights into the history, values, and traditions that shape the Centralian identity. In the second phase, college immersion brought students directly into their respective academic departments. Here, LGU officials facilitated introductions to college facilities, classrooms, laboratories, and faculty members, allowing students to gain a clearer understanding of their academic environment and expectations.
This year’s Centralian Compass aimed to go beyond orientation logistics. It was designed to foster a sense of community and belonging, equip students with knowledge about university life, and ease their transition into college by establishing early connections with peers, mentors, and academic spaces. It also reinforced the collaborative spirit between CPUR both National and Local officials, highlighting the unified effort to support student success from the very beginning of their journey.
As Centralian Compass continues to grow in scope and significance, this year’s success has further solidified its place as a cornerstone tradition at CPU. Looking ahead, CPUR remains dedicated to enriching this experience for future generations – ensuring that each batch of Centralians embarks on their academic path not only well-informed but deeply inspired to embrace the Centralian spirit.
