CPU Republic in collaboration with the College of Hospitality Management spearheaded the “Centralian Compass” event on August 16, 2024.

On August 16, 2024, Central Philippine University Republic (CPUR) launched its enhanced “Centralian Compass” event, an innovative campus-wide tour designed for freshmen and transferees. This immersive orientation is a strengthened version of last year’s campus tour, showcasing CPUR’s commitment to continuously improving the welcome experience for new students. The event is spearheaded by the CPU Republic in collaboration with the College of Hospitality Management under the guidance of Prof. Denie Erwin Tan, aimed to warmly welcome new students and introduce them to campus life.

The Centralian Compass consisted of two parts: a general campus tour and a specialized college immersion. During the general tour, “Centralian Guides” from the College of Hospitality Management, along with LGU officials, led groups around key campus locations, sharing insights about CPU’s facilities, traditions, and culture. The college immersion focused on specific academic departments, where LGU officials provided tailored tours of classrooms, labs, and introduced faculty members.

This event was designed to achieve several objectives: providing a warm welcome, familiarizing student with campus facilities, introducing CPU’s traditions, offering specialized department insights, strengthening LGU collaboration, and enhancing student engagement. By offering this comprehensive orientation, CPUR aims to foster a sense of belonging among new students and set them on the path to becoming accomplished Centralians.

The success of this year’s strengthened Campus Tour has solidified its place as an important annual tradition at CPU. As we look to the future, we are committed to continuing and further enhancing this event for upcoming years, ensuring that each new class of Centralians begins their journey with a thorough understanding of their new academic home. This ongoing tradition marks an important step in CPUR’s commitment to student success, helping new students navigate not just their physical surroundings, but also introducing them to the spirit and community of CPU.
