Jonathan Anotado Gapilango, MSN, RN, NE-BC, OCN, CCRP, is the first Filipino and the second male oncology nurse recipient of the 2024 Connie Henke Yarbro Excellence in Cancer Nursing Mentorship Award by the Oncology Nursing Foundation.

Recently, he was also elected as the President of the Philippine Nurses Association of New Jersey, Inc. for 2024–2026 and was awarded as an outstanding professional by the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA) in the Divas and Dons Gala.

“As a nurse leader, I can drive change and innovation within healthcare systems. Being able to initiate improvements, advocate for best practices, and create a positive work environment can be incredibly motivating,” he shared during an online interview when he was asked what keeps him motivated as a nurse leader.

According to its website, the recipient receives special recognition through a range of Oncology Nursing Foundation platforms, including press recognition through Oncology Nursing Foundation, including, but not limited to, a feature in the Oncology Nursing Foundation newsletter, a feature on the Oncology Nursing Foundation website, and a press release sent to a list of colleagues and workplace provided by the winner.
