In a display of camaraderie, leadership, and cultural exchange, Central Philippine University (CPU) sent four dedicated Girl Scouts and a troop leader to participate in the recently concluded 9th National Girl Scout Jamboree organized by the Girl Scouts of Taiwan. The event took place at Transworld University in Douliu City, Yunlin County, Taiwan, from January 29 to February 2, 2024.

The representatives from CPU who showcased their scouting skills at the international gathering were JR GS Rheaine Austin Sorrila (Grade 6 Joy), JR GS Chelsea Sky Hipe (Grade 6 Hope), SR GS Francheska MJ A. Jalando-on (Grade 9 Gmelina), SR GS Princess Allea Alvarez (Grade 8 Sampaguita), along with their Troop Leader, Ms. Jeneth Zante (CPUES).

The Girl Scouts from CPU were part of a larger contingent of 13 girl scouts from Iloilo, representing various schools. In total, 53 girl scouts from the Philippines participated in the event, making their mark on the international stage. The event saw a diverse representation with 38 girl scouts from Malaysia, 7 from Thailand, and hundreds hailing from Taiwan.

Throughout the Jamboree, the participants engaged in a variety of activities aimed at fostering global friendships and promoting personal development. These activities included Friendship Night, Sub-Camp Night, Campfire, Local Culture Tour, Outdoor Challenges, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Exploring Activities, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Activities, and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGS) Free Being Me (FBM) Activity.

The Girl Scouts of CPU embraced the opportunity to learn, share experiences, and create lasting memories with their fellow scouts from different parts of the world. The Jamboree not only showcased their dedication to scouting values but also emphasized the importance of global cooperation and understanding.

CPU congratulates its Girl Scouts and Troop Leader for their outstanding representation, fostering unity and friendship across borders at the 9th National Girl Scout Jamboree in Taiwan. The university is proud of their achievements and looks forward to continued success in future international scouting events.
