The Central Philippine University Republic held its annual inaugural ceremony on August 1, 2025, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium.

The Central Philippine University Republic, the student government of the prestigious institution established in 1906, held its annual inaugural ceremony on August 1, 2025, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium. This momentous event marked another milestone in the university’s century-long tradition of nurturing student leaders who serve as a training ground for future public servants. The ceremony has evolved over the years into a grand commemoration that underscores the parallel between student Republic leadership and real-life government responsibilities, emphasizing the weight and dignity of democratic governance even at the university level.

The ceremony was distinguished by the participation of prominent Philippine public officials who shared their wisdom with the student body. The Hon. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and the Hon. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, both recently elected senators, delivered inspiring video messages to encourage the new student leaders. Most notably, the Hon. Nathalie Ann “Lee Ann” Debuque, the newly elected Vice Governor of Iloilo Province, graced the event with her personal presence, administering the oath of office to Republic President Jellian Precious J. Ganda and Vice President Collyn Maxie Rose T. Moscoso. The newly appointed Supreme Court Justices of the Republic also participated by administering oaths to other Republic officials, national and local, while university administrators Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy and Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate commenced the program and participated in the pinning ceremonies.

The annual ceremony represents more than a formal installation of officers; it functions as a pivotal platform to remind the youth that leadership positions entrusted by their fellow students carry responsibilities greater than personal interests. The event emphasizes that being elected to serve in the student government of the university is not merely an honor but a sacred trust that must be executed with integrity and dedication. University administrators and guest speakers consistently reinforce the message that student leadership positions mirror the duties and ethical obligations of public service in the broader society.

In pursuit of the Republic’s enduring motto “Non Sibi Sed Aliis” (Not for self, but for others), this momentous occasion serves as a groundwork for promoting leadership rooted in humility and excellence. The ceremony reinforces the university’s commitment to developing not just academically accomplished graduates but principled leaders who understand that true leadership means serving the collective good.
