The CPU delegation during the San Agustin Model Congress held at the University of San Agustin.

Delegates from Central Philippine University participated in recently held San Agustin Model Congress. The said event was held last May 3-5, 2024, at the University of San Agustin, with the theme “Act to Enact: Propelling Dynamic Youth Initiatives in Combating Adversities through Resilient Policies.”

Brooklyn Dumaguin, Ralph Belle Gonzales, Nathalie Heart Herrera, Frederick Evans Jardenil, Niche Clarisse Jover, Thara Danielle Mainar, and Emman Ray Saquibal, joined the delegation representing CPU Republic, and the Association of Political Science and Public Administration Students-CPU.

They engaged in a three-day simulation of the House of Representatives where they each represented legislative districts of the Philippines. Dumaguin represented the 2nd District of Rizal, Gonzales Rizal 1st District, Herrera Zamboanga City 2nd District, Jardenil Marinduque Lone District, Jover Quezon 3rd District, Mainar Bohol 1st District, and Saquibal Quezon 4th District.

Jardenil chaired the Commission on Good Government and Public Accountability, with Herrera and Mainar serving as Vice Chairperson and Secretary, respectively.

Saquibal was awarded Best Debater of the Committee on Labor and Employment; while Jover and Dumaguin authored “An Act Providing a Mechanism and Guidelines for Digital Standardization in the Public Disclosure of SALN under the Department of Information and Communications Technology to Uphold Transparency and Accessibility throughout ICT Integration and for other Purposes Thereof,” the only bill passed by the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, which was subsequently awarded “Most Creative Bill.” Jover also was awarded Best Debater of the same committee.
