Faculty members and staff from Central Philippine University (CPU) participated in the TechForward Summit: Empowering School Leaders with Microsoft, held on June 7, 2024, at the Microsoft Office in Makati City.

The summit, which ran from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, was attended by CPU’s Stella G. Fernandez, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Prof. Ma. Christina Quijano, Dean of the College of Computer Studies; and Mr. Jojee Roy T. Juarez, Supervisor of the Network Systems Unit.

The event focused on how Microsoft tools and technologies can revolutionize education. Participants explored Microsoft OpenAI and Learning Accelerators, which can optimize teaching practices, enhance student engagement, and foster a collaborative learning environment. The summit also addressed the importance of integrating ethical AI practices within educational settings.

The summit featured presentations on various topics, including:

  • Transforming Teaching and Learning with Microsoft AI and Learning Accelerators by Mr. Anthony Cedo, Training and Operations Manager at Rakso CT.
  • Features and Use Cases in Education for Power Platform, OpenAI, and Copilot by Ziggy Zulueta, Microsoft Technical Consultant.
  • Importance of Data Governance, Data Privacy, and Data Security in Education (AI Policies in Education) by Dale Jose, National Security Officer at Microsoft Philippines.
  • Microsoft Education Programs (Showcase School, MIE Expert, and Certification Programs), Call to Action by My Jon Nacional, Education Technology Director at Rakso CT.

The summit also highlighted the benefits of Microsoft 365 for Education, a suite of tools that can provide valuable insights, updates, and professional development opportunities for schools.

CPU Dean Fernandez described her experience at the summit as highly beneficial.

“The technology showcases were particularly useful. They offered insights into practical tools that can enhance educational administration. Overall, the summit provided valuable learning opportunities and left me feeling inspired and better equipped to lead my unit in the digital age,” she said.
