In a historic virtual signing ceremony held on November 22, 2023, Central Philippine University (CPU) and Aichi International Education Center of Japan formalized their commitment to foster international collaboration in the field of education. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) virtual signing took place at the Conference Room of the Rex D. Drilon Hall for CPU, and the representatives of Aichi International Education Center was in Nagoya, Japan.
The event commenced with a prayer led by Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on, Director of CPU’s Office of Communications. To signify the unity between the two nations, the national anthems of both the Philippines and Japan were played. Prof. Kay Arden Q. Gallo, Director of CPU’s Local and International Linkages and Affiliations Center, introduced the participants from CPU and Aichi International Education Center.
Representing CPU were CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Irving Domingo Rio, and College of Hospitality Management Dean Prof. Ma. Medalla P. Baliao. Additionally, CHM Faculty members Prof. Patrica Bayot and Prof. Ismael Almajar, Jr. were present. On behalf of Aichi International Education Center, the following were virtually present: Mr. Ota Masataka, Chairman of Aichi International Education Center, Mr. Ota Kenu, President of Nagoya International School of Japanese Language, Ms. Irish Detablan, Translator/Coordinator and Ms. Sheena Marie Nuniega, their Philippine-based staff.
The signing ceremony featured messages of commitment from Dr. Dagohoy and Mr. Ota, emphasizing the significance of the partnership in enhancing educational opportunities for students from both institutions. Following the messages, the MOU was officially signed, solidifying the collaboration between CPU and Aichi International Education Center.
The signing of this MOU marks a significant step towards promoting international collaboration in education and providing students with valuable opportunities for experiential learning. The partnership between Central Philippine University and Aichi International Education Center is expected to create a positive impact on the academic and professional development of the students involved.
