The Central Echo (CE) bagged 11 awards in this year’s Philippine Information Agency Region VI (PIA-VI) College Press Awards (COPRE).

The awarding was held last November 29 at the Iloilo Grand Hotel. Central Echo was among the campus publications which garnered numerous recognition in the publications contest categories.

For major categories, CE won first place for Best Magazine and second place for Best Tabloid. It also won 2nd place for Best Literary Folio and Best Online Newsletter for special categories.

For minor categories, it garnered first place for Best Magazine Cover Design, Best Magazine Layout and Best Editorial page; second place for Best Newspage, third place for Best Newspaper Layout, fourth place for Best Feature Page and fifth place for Best Sports Page.

Three Central Echo staffers also won in the On-the-Spot Writing contests namely Alester John Gallarda (ABPP-2, 1st place Feature Writing-Filipino), Francis Matthew Gappe (BSSE-2, 2nd Place News Writing- Filipino) and Zharina Marie Stephanie Lugo (ABPP-2, 5th place Feature Writing- English).

The COPRE is conducted annually by the PIA-VI to recognize the contribution of campus publications in its developmental communication initiatives.
