CCS students together with DASMO-ICTD via Zoom proposing the Safezone System.

On February 24, 2026, a group of students from the College of Computer Studies (CCS) met with the Data Assessment and System Management Office – Information and Communications Technology Division (DASMO-ICTD) to present their project, Safezone System, an incident response and monitoring platform.

The meeting was attended by DASMO-ICTD Chief Mr. Mark Anthony Yap and DASMO-ICTD personnel. Attendees from the college included the CPU-CCS delegation, Asst. Prof. Rhea Balontong and the student team developed the proposed system. The meeting was conducted online via Zoom.

The Safezone System is an incident reporting platform that citizens in need can use to seek dispatchers and emergency assistance. The overview of the platform is that users can submit a report using either a voice channel, via calls, or a digital channel, where they upload a report via a mobile application. The next part is where the “Command Center” collects and reviews incoming data, verifies the information received, and classifies the report if it is a medical, criminal, or fire-related incident. After verification and classification are complete, dispatchers direct the request to the right responders needed for the incident, be it the fire department, police station, or ambulance.

This project not only proposes the development and digitization of emergency hotlines but also coincides with DASMO-ICTD’s vision and dedication to creating and promoting digital innovation and technology-based solutions with academic institutions. With the rise of digitization of communication and emergency services, it is only fitting that the innovative CCS students of CPU develop an application that eases and increases accessibility for civilians in need.
