The College of Computer Studies (CCS) once again showcased Centralian talent and creativity as the award-winning short film Ang Pulong Sang Mga Baboy earned major recognitions at the 13th Cinekasimanwa: Western Visayas–Negros Island Region Competition, held on January 18, 2026, at Cinema 3, Festive Walk Mall, Iloilo City.
Directed by CCS-DMIA third-year student Rio John Elenterio, the film received Best Cinematography and Best Sound Design, further solidifying its artistic excellence. It also received special mentions for Best Screenplay and Best Acting, recognizing the performance of Skye Coleen Dela Cruz, a third-year Bachelor of Theology student, and was nominated for Best Editing.
Elenterio expressed his gratitude for the recognition, describing the experience as both unexpected and fulfilling. “I felt really thankful. I honestly didn’t expect to receive these awards, and winning Best in Cinematography among all the film participants was a big surprise for me,” he shared, noting that the recognition made all their hard work and late nights during production worthwhile.
The recognition adds to the growing list of achievements of “Ang Pulong Sang Mga Baboy,” which first gained attention at the 2025 SIGRAB Film Festival, where it was met with critical acclaim. For Elenterio, the film’s continued success reflects the dedication of the entire production team and the importance of platforms that support student filmmakers like him.
Beyond personal achievement, the recognition also highlights Centralian excellence. “As a Centralian, this achievement shows that our school can produce talented and creative students who can compete in outside competitions,” Elenterio said. He added that the recognition strengthened his confidence as a student filmmaker and inspired him to continue pursuing his passion while supporting local cinema.
The film’s success highlights the creative excellence of Centralians who continue to leave their mark on regional and national platforms. Through storytelling grounded in culture and social insight, “Ang Pulong Sang Mga Baboy” inspires aspiring filmmakers within and beyond the university.
The achievement reflects the Centralian spirit of innovation and commitment to socially grounded storytelling. Through works like “Ang Pulong Sang Mga Baboy,” Centralians continue to assert their voice on regional and national film platforms.
