CAS Christian Life Committee, headed by Prof. Debbie Marsha Sian, organized this academic year’s semestral convocation for the College of Arts and Sciences. The convocation was held at the University Church last May 15, 2023, with Rev. Franz Hestia Lovejoy Q. Leysa as the speaker. CAS students, faculty and staff graced the event with their presence.
The purpose of the convocation is to encourage the students to participate in church activities, for it benefits students, particularly in terms of fostering and developing values, and also reminds the students of the value of prayer. “This is to nurture and let the students be reminded of the essence of prayer. And also para ma-encourage ang iban nga colleges nga mag-convocation man sila..” says Gov. Jennifer Erika Angeles of the Province of Arts and Sciences Student Council.
Ms. Glory Fe Dela Cruz, APPS President, and Asst. Treasurer of the PASSC shared her thoughts about the purpose and impact of the convocation in her life. “The purpose of the convocation is to bless, guide, and inspire. To bless in a way that after all the stress of the week, we are still here enjoying the beauty of life. To guide us in a way that the Lord is always here for us and to inspire us that when we think life is unfair, God is making our path for our good,” says Dela Cruz.
Through the collaborative support of CAS Dean Dr. Stella G. Fernandez, department chairpersons, student organizations, and PASSC, the convocation was a successful one. The College of Arts and Sciences showed what EXCEL is. As Centralians, one of our core values is faith. We must engage ourselves in things that honor God, for we find solace and reassurance that we are not alone when uncertainty threatens us through our unwavering faith.
