CPU and CSU key stakeholders pose for a group photo after a successful benchmarking activity, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing between the two institutions.
On March 27, 2025, Central Philippine University (CPU) welcomed a delegation from Caraga State University (CSU) for a benchmarking activity held at the Admin Conference Room. The event aimed to foster collaboration and share best practices between the two institutions.
The program commenced with an opening prayer led by Prof. Sharlene G. Gotico, Associate Director of the Quality Assurance & Accreditation Center. Following this, Engr. Dany C. Molina, CPU Vice President for Administration, delivered a warm welcome message. He emphasized the importance of benchmarking as a strategic tool for continuous improvement, innovation, and adaptation in higher education. He highlighted that benchmarking is not merely an option but a necessity for institutions striving for excellence. Engr. Molina also referenced Hebrews 10:24-25, underscoring the significance of collaboration and mutual encouragement among academic institutions.
A brief presentation showcasing CPU through an Audio-Visual Presentation followed, providing the CSU delegation with an overview of the university’s history, programs, and achievements. Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, CPU Vice President for Student Affairs, then introduced the participants from CPU, which included Engr. Dany C. Molina, Prof. Lesley Joy L. Dignadice, Dr. Anna May Y. Zerrudo, Prof. Sharlene G. Gotico, Dr. Merle L. Junsay, and Prof. Ismael Almajar Jr.
Ms. Hazel P. Tamalla, CTHM IGE Coordinator, introduced her colleagues from CSU, including Dr. Jona J. Biongcog, Dr. Ritchfildjay L. Mariscal, Prof. Maria Annie B. Mortola, Prof. Ronald A. Monzon, Dr. Glenn Arthur A. Garcia, Prof. Maria Jovita C. Serrano, Mr. Carl Vencent M. Niñofranco, and Ms. Renissa S. Cosicol.
The event proceeded with a presentation on CPU’s Internationalization Initiatives by Prof. Lesley Joy L. Dignadice, Acting Director of the Local and International Linkages Affiliations Center (LILAC). This was followed by a sharing of best practices, featuring the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) experience of the CPU College of Hospitality Management, presented by Prof. Ismael Almajar Jr. Additionally, Dr. Merle L. Junsay, Dean of the College of Education, discussed CPU’s Student and Faculty Exchange Program.
An open forum provided an avenue for meaningful discussions and exchange of insights between the two universities. Dr. Glenn Arthur A. Garcia then delivered CSU’s response, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to engage with CPU and learn from its institutional strategies.
The event concluded with a photo opportunity and a campus tour, allowing the CSU delegation to explore CPU’s facilities and witness its dynamic academic environment firsthand. The benchmarking activity fostered a spirit of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, further strengthening the relationship between Central Philippine University and Caraga State University.
