“Empowering Communities: Building Sustainable Partnerships for Mental Health, Education, Hygiene, and Feeding Activity,” which aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 2, 3, 4, 6, and 17.

In a heartwarming display of community support and collaboration, various organizations and stakeholders came together on April 20, 2024, in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City, to launch the project titled “Empowering Communities: Building Sustainable Partnerships for Mental Health, Education, Hygiene, and Feeding Activity.”

The success of this community-driven project was made possible through the concerted efforts of several partner organizations and individuals:

  1. The Medical City Iloilo Hospital INC: The hospital played a pivotal role as the primary sponsor, contributing essential hygiene kits.
  2. Social Science Department (Central Philippine University)
  3. Rotaract Club of Jaro Centraline
  4. Work Student Organization (Central Phililippine University)

The Barangay Council of San Isidro, Jaro, also played a pivotal role in the project’s success by providing accommodations and the venue for the activities. Their support and collaboration were acknowledged with certificates of appreciation.

The project catered to 80 children from Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, providing them with not only essential hygiene kits but also invaluable education and mental health awareness.

The event featured esteemed speakers who shared their expertise and passion for community well-being:

– Brian Nicole A. Valencia, RN: Provided insightful tips on handwashing and hygiene practices, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness for overall health.

– Prince Joash Dacles, RPm, CHRA: Addressed the critical topic of mental health awareness, highlighting the significance of mental well-being in community development.

– Jeric Mark Caño: President of the Work Student Organization at CPU, facilitated a captivating storytelling session, enriching the educational experience for the young participants.

The collaborative effort showcased during this project exemplifies the power of partnerships in addressing community needs and fostering sustainable development. By empowering children with essential knowledge and resources, this initiative not only promotes health and education but also lays the groundwork for a brighter and more resilient future for Barangay San Isidro, Jaro.
