A dazzling display of culture and creativity unfolded at the Rose Memorial Auditorium as CPU Cultural Affairs Office hosted its annual cultural show, aptly titled “Bringing the Light.” The event, which commenced at 4 PM, featured a captivating blend of music, dance, art, and heartwarming narratives that left the audience inspired and uplifted.

The University Symphonic Band set the stage aglow with Christmas tunes, marking the beginning of an enchanting evening. Pastor Jec Dan Borlado led the opening prayer, followed by a heartfelt rendition of the Philippine National Anthem.

University President, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard Dagohoy, extended warm greetings to the attendees, setting the tone for an evening that celebrated the theme of light. Ms. Crista Huyong, Cultural Affairs Office Coordinator, provided a brief yet impactful explanation of the theme’s significance. The highlight of this segment was the Pathfit 3 students, led by Mr. Randy Lero, forming a luminous “Welcome” sign to usher in the new University President.

Act 1: Illuminating Traditions

The Tumandok Dance Company took center stage, enchanting the audience with their graceful performance of “Kumukiti-kutitap” and “Pastores a Belen,” showcasing cultural traditions revolving around the concept of light.

Act 2: Shining Through Art

The stage transformed into a canvas of creativity as CENVAS and the College of Business and Accountancy students showcased the importance of art in our lives. From paintings and sculptures to a mesmerizing runway display of canvas bags featuring student artworks, the audience experienced the brilliance of artistic expression.

Act 3: Spreading Kindness

Teatro, Sining, atbp. delivered a poignant performance, depicting a touching Christmas story involving an OFW and a soldier. The act emphasized acts of kindness, community service, and humanitarian efforts that bring light to communities in need.

Intermission: A Radiant Pause

The University Symphonic Band filled the break with joyous Christmas melodies, creating a festive atmosphere within the auditorium.

Act 4: Lighting the Future

The CPU Excel Chorale took the stage, offering a mesmerizing medley of lullabies and “Flashlight/I am the Light,” symbolizing the hope and brightness that the future holds.

Act 5: Inner Light

The CPU Handbell Ringers delivered a soul-stirring performance, exploring the theme on a personal level. Their renditions of “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Hyfrydol,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” and “Carol of the Bells” resonated with the audience’s inner peace, spirituality, and mindfulness.

Finale: Uniting in Light

The grand finale saw all performers and participants coming together, embodying the theme of “Bringing the Light” with a heartfelt rendition of “Just One Little Candle.” Closing remarks and acknowledgments by Ms. Crista Huyong expressed gratitude to all participants and the audience.

As the curtain fell on “Bringing the Light,” Ms. Huyong encouraged the audience to carry the theme forward, spreading positivity in their lives and communities. The use of lighting effects throughout the show symbolized the power of light to illuminate even the darkest corners. Inspirational quotes and poems about light punctuated the performances, leaving the audience inspired and enlightened.

In the spirit of “Bringing the Light,” CPU has successfully orchestrated an evening of cultural celebration that will resonate in the hearts of attendees as we go to our Christmas and New Year break.
