The BECEd Gems held their third “Pagtatap: Nurturing the Nurturers” Parenting Peace Advocacy at Uswag San Isidro Elementary School, engaging parents in discussions on responsible parenting and strengthening the home–school partnership for young learners’ growth and well-being.

On February 26, 2026, the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) Gems hosted the third “Pagtatap: Nurturing the Nurturers,” a Parenting Peace Advocacy at the Uswag San Isidro Elementary School. The parents and guardians of the school’s learners attended the event, demonstrating their strong support and commitment to their children’s education and overall well-being. The activity aimed to strengthen the partnership between the school and families in nurturing young learners.

The highlight of the program was an inspiring talk by Mrs. Lucita J. Villanueva, a former social welfare attaché in Hong Kong and South Korea. She shared valuable insights about responsible parenting and discussed common mistakes parents could not afford to make, emphasizing the importance of consistency in discipline, being present in children’s lives, and guiding them with prayer, patience, and understanding. Her message reminded everyone that parents are the first and most influential teachers of their children.

After the main talk, the participants were divided into groups and subgroups, each guided by assigned facilitators. In these small-group discussions, BECEd facilitators engaged parents in conversations about parenting mistakes and effective strategies in raising children. Parents and guardians were encouraged to share their own experiences, challenges, and realizations, creating an open and supportive environment for reflection and learning.

This initiative was launched by Program Chair Asst. Prof. Maristel D. Decio, with Asst. Prof.  Jorvelyn Espinosa serving as the Pagtatap Focal Person and Asst. Prof. Praise Glory as the Kindergarten Principal last academic year (2024-2025). Through the collective efforts of the BECED Gems officers and members, USWAG San Isidro Elementary School, and the resource speaker, the event remains a meaningful and successful initiative. By God’s grace, the BECED Gems hope to strengthen the bond between home and school and promote a nurturing environment for every learner.

The BECEd Gems continues to align its numerous initiatives with early childhood as advocates of care and the CPU’s commitment to UN SDGs. Pagtatap is attuned to SDGs 3 – Good Health and Well-being, 4 – Quality Education, 5 – Gender Equality, 10 – Reduced Inequalities, 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
