The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) Gems organized a tree-planting activity with the young learners of CPU-Kindergarten as part of the National Environmental Awareness Month.
The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) Gems celebrated National Environmental Awareness Month at CPU-Kindergarten last November 29, 2024. BECEd students in their fourth year who are currently enrolled in the course, Environmental Education (ECEd 4122), organized a tree-planting activity with the young learners of CPU-Kindergarten.
This year’s national theme, “Sustaining Nature’s Bounty: The Road to Resilience,” aligns with both BECEd and CPU-Kindergarten’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Both programs believe that engaging the little hands of our young learners in sustainable efforts is important by instilling in their minds and hearts love for the environment and commitment to the cause.
Five fruit-bearing trees (seedlings) were planted on the designated CPU-Kindergarten grounds. Indian Mango, Marang, Tambis, Atis, and Talisay were personally named as Grasya, Paglaum, Pagtinguha, Paghidaet, and Sidlak by BECEd students. A simple ceremony was done before the activity. A prayer song for trees was sung together with CPU-K learners, CPU-K Principal, and BECEd Program Chair.
“Planting Trees for Posterity” is just the beginning of BECED Gems’ commitment to environmental conservation. The program will continue to uphold environmental stewardship by planting seeds of compassion for Mother Earth.
