On November 29, 2024, second-year Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED) students creatively retold Ed Young’s Lon Po Po, a Little Red Riding Hood Story from China, to CPU Kindergarten students.
BECED Gems, a newly recognized student organization of the Early Childhood Education Program of the College of Education, celebrates this year’s Children’s Month at CPU Kindergarten. Children’s Month is an annual national celebration every November, aiming to raise awareness of children’s rights and to cultivate the importance of the quality of support provided for the little ones.
In line with this year’s national theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines,” the second year Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED) students showcased a creative storytelling of Ed Young’s Lon Po Po, a Little Red Riding Hood Story from China on November 29, 2024.
The story was not only a surprise to the little tots but also a way to empower them through the story’s socially relevant theme. Songs, rhymes, and fingerplays were facilitated by BECED pre-service teachers who are currently deployed in the university’s laboratory school. The activities were conducted by the Gems in both morning and afternoon sessions and closed with the giving of simple treats to the young learners.
BECED Gems has been collaborating with CPU Kindergarten through various activities that continue to uphold children’s rights. The organization’s various community engagements continue to celebrate the “Gem” in each child.
