CPU-MIDAS successfully conducted its Project KULAY outreach at JLTMS in Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Iloilo City, teaching 41 pupils coloring techniques, offering face painting, and distributing art supplies and customized coloring books.

CPU – MIDAS successfully executed its community outreach program, “Project KULAY: Bringing Colors to Christmas,” at the Judith Lazarraga Tiongco Memorial School (JLTMS) in Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Iloilo City. The initiative addressed art literacy and provided essential resources to 41 young learners. This effort aligns directly with the community service mandates of Central Philippine University.

The event was organized and staffed by 15 MIDAS personnel, including President Nicole Delos Santos. The program was conducted in coordination with the CPU CSS – Computer Science Society and JLTMS Principal Mrs. Mary Ann B. Palermo, Principal II.

The program commenced with a preparatory activity. A dance warmup was led by Decem Kate Ofalla (VP for External Affairs), Buen Joshua Gabiano (Chief-Of-Staff), and Glens Colyv Conde (Media Liaison). Selected participants received minor prizes for engagement, as facilitated by hosts Aaliyah Mae Damalerio (Auditor) and Allen James Dellosa (Event Coordinator).

The core educational segment focused on practical art instruction. Mil Joelyn Lumandog (VP for Internal Affairs) conducted a workshop on coloring techniques. Instruction included the application of analogous coloring and the structural importance of color wheel values, aiming to provide participants with foundational art principles.

Following the workshop, a face painting activity was implemented. MIDAS personnel, specifically Decem Kate Ofalla, Kevin Rendell Amolar (VP for Media), and Angela Thea Ortaliz (Media Liaison), provided intricate face painting services based on pupils’ selections.

The outreach concluded with the distribution of materials. Each participant received a gift pack containing art supplies and a customized coloring book. The book, featuring the organization’s mascot, Mei, was illustrated by Abigail Bagoyo (VP for Illustrations), Erich Paniza (Secretary), Aldana Justine Cañete, and Aya Mitchel Cañete (General Staffers).

Project KULAY served its purpose by delivering measurable art education and resources to the JLTMS pupils. It reinforces CPU – MIDAS’ commitment to community outreach through art-based education.
