“Amliganay: Donate Blood Today, Save Lives Tomorrow” is a bloodletting activity by the CPU Province of Arts and Sciences Student Council and is a partnership with Red Cross Philippines – Iloilo Chapter, Red Cross Youth – Iloilo, CPU Red Cross Youth, and powered by the CPU College of Medical Laboratory Science Student Council.
In partnership with Red Cross Philippines, Iloilo, there was a virtual orientation of Amliganay: Donate Blood, Save Lives Tomorrow last March 4, 2023. Volunteers from different colleges showed up to the said orientation led by Sir Jerry Barro Jr. This is a project on blood donor recruitment and retention in support to the National Blood Service of the Philippine National Red Cross.
Mr. Alejandro Torres, a former manager of Red Cross Youth, conceptualized the program during his attendance to the 6th International Colloquium on Voluntary Non-remunerated Blood Donation held in Chiba, Japan on the topic “Young people are special, what do we expect?” which he presented. The program was patterned after the Zimbabwe program whose method is recruiting young blood donors who will commit to give blood until they are 25 years old.
The orientation was attended by 40 passionate young volunteers, and the team could not be more thankful to the fact that these students are very willing to donate and make the world a better place. Contributions from various colleges further demonstrated how truly passionate this event was.
