Bayles remains humble and grateful, acknowledging God’s perfect timing in her success.
Jetirene Iwayan Bayles, an inspiring young educator, has made her mark by ranking 9th in the March 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) at the elementary level announced by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on May 24, 2024. Her journey to success is a story of faith, dedication, and an unwavering passion for teaching. Bayles grew up in a Christian family where she found her calling early on. From imitating her teachers at home using the family’s living room as her classroom to actively participating in church activities, Bayles always envisioned herself as a teacher.
“Ever since I was a child, I have been involved in our church ministries, specifically the Sunday school,” she said.
Her aspiration was more than a career choice; it was a mission to mold young minds into well-rounded individuals, using her gifts and talents to inspire and educate.
“I believe that it was God who planted this dream in my heart. He has been preparing me to become a teacher through the Sunday school ministry at our church,” she said.
Bayles’ motivation to excel in the LET was sparked during her college years, driven by the encouragement of her professors and the support from her family and friends. Despite the challenges, including nearly missing the deadline for filing her exam papers, Bayles remained steadfast.
“Topping the LET is my way of thanking them and my way of bringing honor to CPU, my dear alma mater,” she said.
Her preparation strategy was meticulous and disciplined. She enrolled in an online review center, dedicating significant hours daily to study various subjects and practice tests.
“Scheduling helped me a lot during my review. I made sure to spend 4-5 hours every day, focusing on the subjects based on their level of difficulty,” she said.
The road to success was not without its hurdles. Bayles faced significant challenges, including anxiety and mental health struggles. Prayer and faith were her anchors, providing her with the strength to overcome her fears.
“I have this fear of failure and of the unknown,” she admitted. Yet, her faith and strong support system helped her persevere. “In the midst of these difficulties, it was always God, my parents, and close relatives who supported me,” she said.
On the day of the exam, Bayles’ meticulous preparation and faith were put to the test.
“I prayed for peace, sound mind, and good health,” she recalled. Listening to worship songs and praying before the exam helped her stay calm and focused. “By God’s grace, all things happened just how I wanted them to,” she said.
Looking back, Bayles attributes her success to her faith, support system, and rigorous preparation. Her advice to future examinees is rooted in perseverance and faith.
“Honor God in your heart’s desires. Pray and meditate on His word,” she said.
Bayles’ immediate plans include focusing on her church ministry and taking a short course in TEFL. She also aspires to further her education in special needs and inclusive education, with long-term goals of making a significant impact in the teaching profession.
“I envision my future in teaching as something worthwhile and purposeful, where no one is left unheard and no one is left behind,” she said.
Bayles’ story is not just about academic excellence; it is a testament to the power of faith, dedication, and the support of loved ones. Her journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring educators, demonstrating that with passion, hard work, and faith, even the highest aspirations can be achieved.
“I just want to share a fun fact: The LET results were released on May 24, 2024. It was also the same date when I passed the CPU entrance exam five years ago. God is so amazing that He allows things to happen in His perfect timing,” she said.
Reflecting on her achievement, Bayles remains humble and grateful. Marking her success as a milestone not just in her career but in her life’s mission to educate and inspire.
