JOBFAIR@CPU held at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park on May 8, 2024.

On May 8, 2024, a total of 33 companies, composing of 27 local and 6 BPOs, participated in this year’s campus JOBFAIR@CPU held at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park. For the first time, the event was held from 3 P.M. until 7 in the evening instead of its usual 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. schedule.

This proactive move by the office is in response to the present hot weather situation and with the well-being of both employers and jobseekers in mind. Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, University President, welcomed both guests, participating companies, and participants. Mr. Francisco “Bombit” Heler, Head of PESO Iloilo, and Ms. Sheen Marie S. Mabilog, PESO-Iloilo City, both gave words of encouragement for the jobseekers as well as commended CPU’s Job Placement Office, headed by Prof. Rouella Cheyenne C. Aberia, Job Placement Officer, for the consistent facilitation of the job fair program, highlighting the university’s commitment to bridging the gap between industries and job seekers. Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, Vice President for Student Affairs, also showed her support during the event.

A total of 1,307 applicants were interviewed, with 29 individuals securing employment on the spot, demonstrating the success and impact of the event in facilitating meaningful employment opportunities. CPU JPO also partnered with the Social Security System and the Philippine Statistics Authority, which set up help desks to assist job seekers with government-mandated concerns under their agencies, as well as national ID registration for the latter.

The annual job fair, organized by CPU’s Job Placement Office in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office Iloilo City, under the supervision of the PESO Iloilo Province and the Department of Labor and Employment, serves as a vital initiative to support both Centralians and the wider community in their pursuit of career advancement and economic stability.

The event not only provided a platform for job seekers to connect with potential employers but also underscored CPU’s dedication to fostering meaningful employment opportunities and facilitating the professional growth of its students and alumni.
