Fifteen students from Nagoya Gakuin University (NGU) conduct their campus tour at Central Philippine University (CPU), embarking on an exciting journey of cultural exchange and learning.
On February 12, 2025, fifteen Japanese students from Nagoya Gakuin University (NGU) arrived at Central Philippine University (CPU) for their English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Their visit was warmly received by Professor Lesley Joy L. Dignadice, MBA, LPT, Acting Director of Local and International Linkages and Affiliations (LILAC).
Before officially beginning their ESL class at Henry Luce III, the Japanese students were guided on a campus tour by CPU English Language Studies (ELS) interns, ensuring they felt at home and familiarized with the vibrant academic environment of CPU.
Adding to the warm reception, CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard Dagohoy personally welcomed the NGU students, with his heartfelt message. This special moment allowed the students to feel embraced by the Centralian spirit of inclusivity and hospitality.
The campus tour served as an opportunity for NGU students to immerse themselves in Filipino culture while getting to know the CPU community. They visited key areas such as the university canteen, Uy Building, and various academic facilities, where they had the chance to experience Filipino cuisine.
The Japanese students were delighted by the warm smiles and friendly interactions with CPU students, creating a welcoming atmosphere that left a lasting impression. They also expressed their excitement about exploring CPU’s facilities further including the opportunity to showcase their swimming skills.
After meeting the university president, exploring the campus, and engaging with fellow students, the NGU visitors were eager to begin their ESL classes. Their enthusiasm for learning English, immersing in Filipino culture, and building international friendships was evident, marking the beginning of an exciting educational journey at CPU.
With this partnership between Nagoya Gakuin University and Central Philippine University, the exchange of knowledge, culture, and friendship continues to flourish and strengthening the bonds between Japan and the Philippines through education and shared experiences.
