“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)
The Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awards (TOSIA) Salute to Excellence held at Robinsons Place Pavia on June 22, 2024.
Dear Centralian family,
It is with immense joy that I congratulate each and every one for the success of our 96th Commencement Exercises of the University’s Colleges held at the University Gymnasium on June 23. The ceremony’s highlight was the conferring of diplomas to over 2,226 graduates, with 584 receiving Latin honors. Also, I would like to extend my appreciation to the people who worked hard to make the event a memorable one – from the Commencement Exercises Committee; Facilities Management, Electrical and Mechanical Systems, Buildings and Grounds Personnel; Office of Communications; Office of the President; Offices of the Vice-President for Administration, Finance and Enterprises, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs; Office of the Registrar; University Church; Security Office, Medical and Dental Clinics; College Deans and Department Heads; Faculty and Staff; Community Partners, and many others. Your behind-the-scenes efforts ensured that every part of the event was seamlessly executed. Your dedication and professionalism are the bedrock upon which our University stands.
Last June 24-25, CPU hosted a two-day training on Effective Document Control based on ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and Effective Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action in an ISO 9001:2015 QMS. This event was attended by ISO trainer/consultant, Ms. Cynthia R. Ramirez, as well as officials from government agencies, educational institutions, and hospitals located in Samar, Cebu, Ormoc City, Pampanga, and Cagayan de Oro. We are grateful to our CPU Review, Continuing Education and Consultancy Center (RCECC), and the Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) for hosting the said event. We place a high premium on quality, and we will always strive to be known for it.
On June 28, we conferred a total of 153 graduates from the School of Graduate Studies. We have students from countries such as China, Indonesia, and Vietnam, who chose to pursue further studies here at Central. Reflecting the diverse and inclusive nature of the CPU’s School of Graduate Studies, the graduating class of 2024 represented varied backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
As most of our commencement activities have concluded, CPU launched its summer classes for this year. We are happy to announce that we have a total of 4,623 enrollees from various programs. As we believe that learning should be a continuous and enriching experience, regardless of the season, CPU remains committed to equip students for success in their academic and professional journeys.
Congratulations to our Centralians who excelled in The Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awards (TOSIA) 2024. They are graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences, namely Anthony B. Lorca (Social Work), Jennifer Erika P. Angeles (Social Work), and Gazelle Faith G. Boko (Psychology), together with Robby Marvyn R. Arnillo from the Junior High School Department. Out of the 10 TOSIA awardees from the tertiary level and 12 awardees from the high school level, Angeles was included in the TOSIA Top Circle of 5, while Arnillo also secured the same spot for the junior high school category. Once again, Central Philippine University has produced students whose academic excellence, leadership, community involvement, and faith in God are worth noting. We are so proud of you!
Let us carry forward the Central Spirit that defines our University. Together, we will navigate the challenges ahead with tenacity and creativity.
Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy
