We often think of “waste” as something to throw away…
But what if agricultural or industrial by-products could actually strengthen our soils, improve construction quality, and unlock new economic opportunities for our regions?
This is exactly what Dr. Jebie Balagosa, Associate Professor, Geotechnical Engineer, and Project Leader of Project GEO-DYNAMIX, the new flagship collaboration between Central Philippine University and Kongju National University (South Korea), funded for three years under the 2025 Philippines–Korea Joint S&T Research Program (한–필리핀 국제공동연구사업) through the DOST Grant-in-Aid (GIA), has been working on for the past six months under the Balik Scientist Program, together with CPU faculty, staff, and students, to enhance regional capacity through sustainable geotechnics.
Join us as we explore how sustainable geotechnics, waste-based binders, and nature-inspired engineering can reshape the future of regional development—starting right here in Western Visayas.
